Lang Lang’s Performance on the Occasion of the 20th Anniversary of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra
With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, a gala concert dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra took place at the Grand Hall of the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. The special guest of the evening was world-renowned pianist Lang Lang.

Among those attending the concert were Minister of ESCS Zhanna Andreasyan, Deputy Minister Daniel Danielyan, other officials, and music lovers.

Lang Lang visited Armenia for the first time. The renowned musician performed Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 together with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. The concert was conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.

In the second part of the anniversary concert, the orchestra presented performances from projects beloved by the public, featuring prominent Armenian artists.
The event was another important step in implementing the cultural policy of the Ministry of ESCS and in activating concert life through the participation of internationally acclaimed artists. For the organization of the concert, the Government allocated AMD 106 million.

It should be noted that in 2009, Time magazine included Lang Lang in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world. He is also the founder of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, which focuses on discovering young talents and promoting music education.

The orchestra’s 20th anniversary concert season began in September and includes several interesting projects and large-scale concerts in Yerevan, the regions, and abroad.
