World-Renowned Pianist Lang Lang to Perform in Yerevan
With the support of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, a gala concert dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra will take place on April 14 at the Grand Hall of the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex. The special guest of the evening will be the world-renowned pianist Lang Lang.

Lang Lang’s performance in Yerevan has been made possible through long-term negotiations and state support, representing an important achievement for Armenian classical music. The pianist regularly collaborates with leading orchestras and conductors worldwide and has performed at major global events, including the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympic Games.

In 2009, Time magazine included him in its list of the 100 most influential people in the world. He is also the founder of the Lang Lang International Music Foundation, which focuses on discovering young talents and promoting music education.

Lang Lang will visit Armenia for the first time and will perform Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 2 together with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra. The concert will be conducted by Sergey Smbatyan.

In the second part of the anniversary concert, the orchestra will present performances from projects beloved by the public, featuring renowned Armenian artists.

The event is another important step in implementing the cultural policy of the Ministry of ESCS and in energizing concert life through the participation of internationally acclaimed artists. For the organization of the concert, the Government has allocated 106 million AMD.
