17th Yerevan International Music Festival culminates in Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall

With the support of the Ministry of ESCS, the 17th Yerevan International Music Festival, a major event in the 100th-season concert series of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, concluded at the Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall.

Eduard Topchyan conducted the festival's closing concert. It featured the world premiere of the symphonic piece "Dzon" (Dedication), dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia.

"Dzon" was composed by Armenian artist Yervand Yerkanyan. This work, written for a large ensemble, vividly reflects Armenian symphony traditions, showcasing the orchestra's virtuosity. The audience warmly received Yerkanyan's symphonic "Dzon."

“It is also significant for me that for 25 years now, the orchestra has been led by our beloved maestro Eduard Topchyan, the longest-serving artistic director and chief conductor in the Philharmonic's history. This year is also a jubilee for me: it has been exactly 50 years since the Philharmonic, then the State Symphony Orchestra of Armenia, first performed my work, which won a prize at a prestigious international competition,” Yervand Yerkanyan said after the concert.

The evening also featured Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 5, with pianist Eva Gevorgyan as the soloist. The concert concluded with Liszt’s “Faust Symphony," performed by tenor Tigran Melkonyan, accompanied by the male ensemble of the National Academic Choir of Armenia, under the artistic direction of Ohannes Tchekidjian.
