Zildjian gifts instruments to Armenia in honor of its 400th anniversary
The renowned Zildjian company, on the initiative of the Armenian music technology company AAA Audio, co-founded by Serzh Tankian, the lead singer of the rock group System of a Down, donates percussion instruments to the Yerevan Conservatory and orchestras on the occasion of its 400th anniversary.
This historic contribution includes over 20 Zildjian cymbals and dozens of different drumsticks, hammers, and accessories from Zildjian, Vic Firth, and Balter. Zildjian acquired the latter two in 2010 and 2018, respectively.
"To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the Zildjian, my family wanted to pay honor to my grandfather's Armenian roots. By donating cymbals to the conservatory and famous orchestras in Armenia, we are doing what my grandfather would have wanted to do," said Craig Zildjian, CEO and President of Zildjian, adding: "I am confident that the Armenian musical community will appreciate this donation of cymbals bearing an Armenian name that are now manufactured in the United States.
The historical collection is donated for Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory and five Armenian orchestras: National Philharmonic of Armenia, State Symphony of Armenia, A. For the Spendiaryan Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet, State Chamber Orchestra of Armenia, and State Jazz Orchestra of Armenia.
"The mission of AAA Audio Company is to discover Armenia's musical potential in the international arena," stated Gevorg Mnatsakanyan, the company's co-founder and operational director. AAA Audio focuses on producing high-level music production software, virtual studio technology (VST) tools, and remote recording services for professional composers who write music for movies, television, and video games.
