Biography
Avet Gabrielyan was born in Rostov on Don in 1899. 1929 graduated from Moscow Conservatory.
1922-23 he thought in Yerevan music studio, in 1923-24 and 1941-44 at Yerevan Conservatory, in 1938-79 at Moscow Conservatory. In 1974 Gabrielyan received the title of honorary professor of Yerevan Conservatory, and in 1976 - professor of Noscow Conservatory.
In 1924-74 he was one of the founding members of the Komitas String Quartet. He had solo concerts, performed with symphony orchestras and ensembles (with A. Goldenweiser, H. Neuhaus, K. Ignumov, V. Merzhanov).
1935 Gabirelyan was a laureate of the All-Union Competition in 1945. In 1946 he was awarded the title of People's Artist of the USSR. 1965 He became a laureate of the State Prize of the Armenian SSR.
Yerevan Music School No. 12 is named after renowned violinist.
