Biography

Gurgen Petrosyan was born in Nalchik in 1991. In 2015 he graduated from the Saratov Conservatory as a choral conductor (Prof. N. Vladimirtseva) and in 2017, as a symphony orchestra conductor (Prof. S. Nesterov). He has participated in master classes held by D. Fisher and Y. Simonov.

1st prize winner at the Krasnoyarsk International Choral Conductors Competition (2015), Diploma-recipient of the Tlendiev International Competition of Symphony Conductors (2017).
From 2016 to 2018 he conducted the Volga Region Chamber Orchestra.

Since 2018 has been an assistant conductor, and since 2021 — conductor of the Mariinsky Theatre. His repertoire includes Falstaff, The Tsar’s Bride, La fanciulla del West, Betrothal in a Monastery, Cavalleria Rusticana, Christmas Eve, The Maid of Orleans, The Nutcracker and concert programs.

He has also performed with the Armenian State Symphony Orchestra, State Symphony Orchestra Novaya Rossiya, Astana State Academic Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, the Hong Kong Sinfonietta and the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra.
