Biography

Mane Galoyan was born in Gyumri. She received her bachelor’s degree at the Yerevan State Komitas Conservatory in the class of Prof. Susanna Martirosyan (2014). In 2009 she won at the Renaissance International Contest-Festival in Gyumri (Armenia). In 2013 she won a gold medal at the 7th Youth Delphic Games in Kazakhstan, was awarded the Presidential Prize of Armenia, and came in second at the 6th International Competition of Opera Singers “Saint Petersburg”. In 2014 the singer was selected to join the Young Artists Vocal Academy at the Houston Grand Opera. That same year she won a prize at the 33rd International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition in Dusseldorf. She also won the 7th Bibigul Tulegenova International Vocal Competition in Astana (Kazakhstan) and received the fourth prize at the 6th China International Voice Competition in Ningbo,In 2015 she won the 27th Concert of Arias: Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Opera Singers at the Houston Grand Opera, in 2021 she received the second prize at Operalia competition.  

In the 2021-2022 season, she will continue as an Ensemble member with Deutsche Oper Berlin, where she will sing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, Violetta in La traviata, and Corinna in Il viaggio a Reims, among other roles. As a guest artist, she will make her debut with Dutch National Opera as Violetta, and perform the title role in Luisa Miller with the Glyndebourne Festival. In the 2020-2021 season, she debuted with Zürich Opernhaus as Adina in L’elisir d’amore and performed Garsenda in Francesca da Rimini with Deutsche Oper Berlin.

Cancellations due to the Covid-19 pandemic include performances at the Metropolitan Opera as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel, as well as with Deutsche Oper Berlin as Violetta Valéry in 7 Deaths of Maria Callas, Micaëla in Carmen, Pamina, Violetta in La traviata, and the soprano soloist in a staged version of the St. Matthew Passion, among other projects.
In the 2019-2020 season, Ms. Galoyan made her Metropolitan Opera debut as Prilepa/Chlöe in The Queen of Spades, conducted by Vasily Petrenko. She also returned to Houston Grand Opera as Gilda in Rigoletto, and debuted with Hawaii Opera Theatre as the Countess in Le nozze di Figaro.

During the 2018-2019 season, Ms. Galoyan performed Violetta with the Glyndebourne Festival on tour and Gilda with both Kentucky Opera and Wolf Trap Opera. Symphonic engagements included Rachmaninoff’s The Bells with both the Dallas Symphony Orchestra led by James Gaffigan, and the Houston Symphony led by Andrés Orozco-Estrada. Ms. Galoyan also performed select Russian song repertoire with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center at Alice Tully Hall and Mahler’s Symphony No. 2 Resurrection with the Aspen Music Festival. As part of her final season with the Houston Grand Opera Studio in 2017-2018, she performed Violetta and the Confidante in Elektra.

In the 2016-2017 season, Ms. Galoyan performed Adina at Houston Grand Opera. She also performed Mahler’s Symphony No. 4 with the San Antonio Symphony and gave recitals at Balliol College at Oxford University, the Opera America Emerging Artists Recital series in New York, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. Other concert performances included Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Schubert’s Mass in G and Mass in C, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, all with the Armenian National Chamber Orchestra, as well as Fauré’s Requiem with the Armenian National Philharmonic Orchestra.
