Biography
Vagharshak Kotoyan was born in Tbilisi. From 1944-46 studied at the composition department of the local conservatory. 1950 graduated from the composition department of Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory. 1950-53 continued his studies at the House of Armenian Culture in Moscow.
1965-67 was the director of A. Spendiaryan's house museum, in 1968 was the head of the department of the music department of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia. Since 1969, he has led the Armenian State Philharmonic. 1963 was awarded the title of Honored Art Worker of Armenia.
Died in Yerevan.
