Liparit Avetisyan's debut with Berliner Philharmoniker

Liparit Avetisyan's debut with Berliner Philharmoniker
Tenor, soloist of A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet theatre Liparit Avetisyan performed with Berliner Philharmoniker on January 12 with P. Tchaikovsky's "Iolanta". This was Liparit Avetisyan's debut as Vaudemont first appearance with the Philharmoniker. The title role was performed by Asmik Grigorian, who has become one of the most sought-after singers in her field since her acclaimed portrayal of Salome at the Salzburg Festival. The Armenian singers, under the baton of Kirill Petrenko also will appear with the same roles on January 14 and 15.

Peter Tchaikovsky’s last opera, Iolanta, is tender, magical, and ambiguous. The focus of the story is a blind princess, who regains her sight through love – a rare happy ending in 19th-century opera.
