“Primavera Foundation” Expands the Scope of the “Chamber Music School” Project: Classes to Be Held in Kapan
The Primavera Foundation of Armenia, a charitable foundation, has been implementing one of its key educational and cultural projects for the third consecutive year—the “Chamber Music School,” led by Professor Irina Krasotina. This year, the project features a new geographical expansion and a significant professional contribution.
The main innovation is the project’s first entry into the Syunik Province. From April 28 to May 2, classes will be held in Kapan to support the development of regional music education and introduce young local musicians to the nuances of ensemble performance. On May 2, the masterclasses will host a final gala concert, where participants will have the opportunity to showcase their skills.
This initiative became possible through cooperation with the Kapan State College of Arts, where the masterclasses and gala concert will be held. One outstanding musician and one ensemble will be allowed to continue their training in Yerevan with Professor Irina Krasotina. These masterclasses will traditionally take place at the Arno Babajanian Concert Hall from May 5 to 8, with the gala concert scheduled for May 9. All events are free of charge for citizens of the Republic of Armenia. To further strengthen the educational component, the foundation has prepared a special gift for teachers in Syunik. Music school teachers in Kapan will receive Professor Irina Krasotina’s methodological handbook “The Art of Ensemble Performance,” which was translated into Armenian and published in 2025 at the foundation’s initiative.
“Our goal is to create sustainable educational and cultural bridges between Yerevan and the regions. The classes in Kapan and the provision of professional literature are another step toward preserving and developing Armenia’s musical heritage and performance traditions,” noted the foundation’s co-founder and Executive Director Elena Yakovleva.
The “Chamber Music School” is a platform for young performers to refine their skills under the guidance of an experienced specialist, with a focus on ensemble playing and collaborative creativity. The classes are led by Irina Krasotina, Professor of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory, Head of the Ensemble Department at the Ippolitov-Ivanov State Musical Pedagogical Institute, Master of Spanish Music, and Candidate of Art History, who also heads the Chamber Music Department of the Primavera Foundation of Armenia.
