7th CROSSROADS festival culminated in Yerevan
The CROSSROADS International Festival of Contemporary Music culminated on May 16 at The Office Club. This year's international festival took place in Yerevan and Dilijan from April 29 to May 16. The festival, held for the seventh time, was titled "Armenian Mosaic". This year's performers included Andrius Arutiunian, Gascia Uzunian, Hayk Melikyan, Assonance Ensemble, the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory Boomerang Ensemble, and the Yerevan String Quartet.
"We can announce with immense happiness and confidence that the seventh festival was a wonderful success. It is the only festival in Armenia, featuring new and significant pieces of contemporary world-academic music. Moreover, most of them are performed for the first time, that is, the festival is a stage for their Armenian and world premieres. The festival always aims to ensure the spread and development of contemporary world music in Armenia. Therefore, in different years, it includes Armenian premieres of a number of new works in the program. Pursuing our mission, this time we presented ourselves to the public with various interesting concert programs," said the organizers of the event "QuarterTone" NGO.
The "Crossroads" is the only music event in Armenia to feature a considerable number of new and notable works of contemporary academic music. Furthermore, the majority of them are performed for the first time, making the festival a platform for their Armenian and international premieres. The festival's mission has always been to promote and develop contemporary music in Armenia. As a result, in different years, it features Armenian debuts of new works on its program.
This year's festival featured five concerts at the "Arno Babajanyan" concert hall, the National Chamber Music Center, the AGBU Armenia Hall, the Dilijan International School, and The Office.
