“Epic Motion”: Nik Bärtsch to Give Solo Concert in Yerevan

On October 2 at 7:00 PM, the Armenian State Philharmonia will present a solo concert by world-renowned Swiss pianist, composer, and ECM Records artist Nik Bärtsch at the Arno Babajanyan Concert Hall.

Titled “Epic Motion,” the concert will feature the musician’s distinctive Ritual Groove, explored through the format of a piano solo performance.

Bärtsch’s musical language is built around recurring motifs, rhythmic layers, and the gradual development of subtle variations. In his compositions, every sound and rhythmic movement becomes part of a larger structure, creating music that combines minimalist clarity, jazz freedom, and the rhythmic energy characteristic of funk. ECM Records describes Bärtsch’s approach as music in which recurring and layered motifs create evolving and complex rhythmic patterns.

Bärtsch is known for both his solo performances and the music he has created with the Ronin ensemble and other projects. One of the key collections of his solo works is ECM’s “Entendre” album.

Nik Bärtsch’s Yerevan concert is held in cooperation with the Embassy of Switzerland in Armenia.
