Yerevan Perspectives 20th International Music Festival presented the concert of
world-known violist Kim Kashkashian and percussionist Robyn Schulkovwsky on 1st
October. The program included works of Komitas and composer Tigran Mansuryan,
who performed in the concert as well.
Kim Kashkashian is one of the pre-eminent artists of ECM New Series, a committed
proponent of contemporary music. She has enjoyed creative relationships with
György Kurtág, Krzysztof Penderecki, Alfred Schnittke, Giya Kancheli, and Arvo
Pärt, and commissioned works from Peter Eötvös, Ken Ueno, Thomas Larcher, Lera
Auerbach, and Tigran Mansurian. The album “Kurtág/Ligeti: Music for Viola” won

contribution to music in America.
Robyn Schulkowsky has been an innovator and collaborator throughout her life.
She has premiered and recorded some of the most important solo percussion works
of the 20th and 21st centuries, working with composers Karlheinz Stockhausen,
Iannis Xenakis, and Morton Feldman,
presenting their works on tours in Africa, India, Asia, the USA, South America,
and Mexico. Schulkowsky’s virtuosity has been captured on over 20 recordings,
including CDs with violist Kim Kashkashian and trumpet players Nils Petter
Molvaer and Reinhold Friedrich, and seminal recordings of compositions by Morton
Feldman and Christian Wolff, with whom she has collaborated for over20 years.
