After long hiatus "Soma: Ring of Fire" presented in Yerevan
The premiere of Avet Terteryan's "Soma: Ring of Fire" opera took place at A. Spendiaryan Opera and Ballet theater. The performance is dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of writer Yeghishe Charents.
The world premiere of the piece was held 55 years ago, in 1967 and the last time was staged in 1977 by Tigran Levonyan. Avet Terteryan composed two operas. In “Ring of Fire” he broke the stereotypes about traditional Armenian opera, where the librettist V. Shahnazaryan connected B. Lavrentev’s “Forty-first” with Y. Charents’ “Soma” and "Epical Sunrise". Such weaving gave a special shade to the libretto. In the opera, the choir acts as a commentator, sympathizer, sympathizer, and consultant, contributing to the tense course of the plot.
Almost 100 artists are involved in this opera. For the first time, all technical possibilities of the theater were used to present opera art as theater.
The director of the play is an Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Armenia Armen Meliksetyan, the staging artist is Rafael Khachatryan, costume designer is Rubineh Hovhannisyan. The musical director of the performance is conductor Karen Durgaryan. Soloists: Silva Petrosyan, Lusine Makaryan, Ferdinand Muradyan, Sargis Bazhbeuk-Melikyan.
Head of RA prime minister's administration Arayik Harutyunyan had been presented in the opera.
