French-Armenian psychiatrist’s book on Komitas published in Armenian

On October 1, the Komitas Museum-Institute hosted the presentation of the Armenian translation of Louise Fov-Hovhannisian’s book "Father Komitas: the Armenian Clergyman and Composer (1869–1935): A Biographical and Psychological Study", translated from French into Armenian by Shushanik Tamrazian.

The opening remarks were delivered by Lusine Sahakyan, Director of the Komitas Museum-Institute and a Komitas scholar, who congratulated everyone on the publication of this valuable work and expressed her gratitude to the book’s translator, Shushanik Tamrazian. She noted that the book is intended to challenge numerous misconceptions about Komitas Vardapet and expressed confidence that it would attract considerable interest.

As part of the presentation, the book’s translator, Shushanik Tamrazian, delivered a talk. The Geghard Vocal Ensemble also performed (artistic director: Mher Navoyan, conductor: Anahit Papayan).

The programme featured Komitas Vardapet’s solo songs (accompanied by pianist Tigran Mesropyan; soloists Nelly Kalashyan, Ani Simonyan, Tatev Tadevosyan, Anahit Gabrielyan, and Anzhela Badalyan) as well as choral works.
