From Komitas to Electroacoustics: Music in the COP17 Green Zone
From 19 to 30 October, the Cultural Stage of the COP17 Green Zone (Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex, free entry) presents music that explores nature across different eras and styles.
Khazer Choir (artistic director Ani Navasardyan) — A Komitas programme in which nature is not a backdrop but a living presence: mountains, fields, rivers, and village life.
Tmbata Orchestra — "Voice of the Land". Born from an educational programme at TUMO, the band (founder and artistic director Arik Grigoryan) reimagines folk songs and the Komitas legacy with a contemporary sound.
Hayk Petrosyan — "Song and Nature", a solo musical performance where "Lorik", "Hov areq, sarer jan", "Arev, arev", and other songs tell of the age-old bond between people and nature.
Yerevan String Quartet (Narek Sahakyan, Gevorg Gasparyan, Narek Asatryan, Vahe Danielyan) — A programme composed of works by Armenian composers.
Tiezerk Band — "What Hears Me, and What I Hear", a multimedia performance. Material recorded with special microphones from Armenian plants and landscapes most vulnerable to climate change became the basis of a new EP. The recordings will be released as an open-source sample pack. The show is multichannel, fully surrounding the audience with sound.
Vardan Harutyunyan — "Handle With Care", an electroacoustic performance. Metal, glass, stone, tile, and wood: sound objects are arranged according to the Chinese Wu Xing system in a piece focusing on attention and care.
Weno&Creaflutive (Vasilisa Petrosyan, Artak Ghazaryan) — Half-improvised acoustic ambient folk.
