Armenian sopranos Juliana Grigoryan and Kristine Mkhitaryan join Metropolitan Opera’s “La Bohème”

The Metropolitan Opera in New York will present Giacomo Puccini’s beloved opera “La Bohème” throughout its 2026–27 season, with Armenian sopranos Juliana Grigoryan and Kristina Mkhitaryan among the leading artists taking on the role of Mimì.

The production, presented in Franco Zeffirelli’s iconic staging, will run from September 25, 2026, through April 29, 2027. “La Bohème” remains one of the most frequently performed works in the Metropolitan Opera’s history.

Juliana Grigoryan will perform as Mimì on September 25, 27, October 1, 3, 7, 10 and 16, while Kristina Mkhitaryan will take on the role on October 9, 15, 22, 24, 28 and 31.

The 2026–27 “La Bohème” performances will feature an international cast alongside the Armenian singers, including Rosa Feola, Federica Lombardi, Ermonela Jaho and Katherine Liu, as well as Rodolfo performers Stephen Costello, Adam Smith, Atalla Ayan, Arturo Chacón-Cruz and Pene Pati.

The performances will be conducted by Ramon Tebar, Marco Armiliato and Daniele Rustioni.
