Biography
Composer, People's Artist of the Republic of Armenia Geghuni Chtchyan was born in Gyumri in 1929. From 1940 she studied at Yerevan P. Tchaikovsky Secondary Music School In the sections of piano and composition. 1953 she graduated from the Composition Department of the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory (YKSC) (class of Grigor Yeghiazaryan).
He is the author of symphonic, vocal-symphonic, chamber-instrumental, vocal, choral compositions, which were performed at concerts of composers' conferences and plenums in Armenia, the USSR. She presented Armenian music in the United States, Canada, England, Poland and Bulgaria. Her works were performed in Yerevan, Armenian towns, Moscow, San Francisco and Riga. She appeared in the press with articles, reviews, memoirs.
Geghuni Chtchyan's scientific-methodological works include Music textbooks for 5-6 grades of secondary schools (co-authors: M. Mazmanyan, Yu. Yuzbashyan), published 11 times, Collection of instrument scores (2 volumes) Handbook of "Score Analysis-Reading" subject (manuscript).
Geghuni Chtchyan is a laureate of more than 40 Soviet union, republican competitions. She was awarded more than 30 diplomas by the Ministry of Culture of the USSR, the USSR Trade Union Committee, military units of cultural organizations of Latvia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Ukraine, other municipalities of Yerevan, RA regional administrations, military units and other organizations.
