
Biography
Composer Stepan Naghdyan was born on May 1, 1921, in Kakheti (Georgia).
In 1950, he graduated from Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory, Edward Mirzoyan's class ( earlier he studied in V. Talyan's class). In 1953, he was qualified in the studio of the House of Culture and in Moscow with G. Litinsky.
1938-1947 led the orchestra of the Pioneer Palace of Yerevan and was responsible for the cultural section. 1949-1953 he was the director and a teacher at Alaverdi Music School. He also taught at a pedagogical school. Together with S. Samvelyan in 1976, Naghdyan published a solfeggio textbook. He composed chamber, piano, choral, and children's compositions, and arranged folk songs and dances.
