People's Artist of Armenia Vahagn Stamboltsyan studied piano at the Yerevan Conservatory with Arno Babajanyan and at the Leningrad Conservatory with Yuri Bryushkov and Pavel Serebryakov. At the same time, he studied in the organ class of Isaiah Braudo.
Since 1964 he continued to live and work in Armenia. The first organ teacher at the Yerevan Conservatory. Known as not only a performer of Johann Sebastian Bach's works, but also a propagandist of medieval Armenian music, he performed in his own organ arrangements (performed on the basis of choral editions by Komitas, Yekmalyan, as well as contemporary Armenian composers). In addition, Stamboltsyan's repertoire included works by Armenian composers of the 20th century.
